Some Thing are Life Changing – A Letter From a Member

Iā€™ve been a cop for nearly 25 years. Most of my career I have worked assignments targeting gang and narcotics. In 2019 I was involved in a shooting where I was injured, and my department ultimately tried to fire me. As I was home recovering from injuries, I knew I needed to begin looking for the possibility of starting a new career. I was devastated. As I spent time recovering and in the ā€œwaiting game penalty boxā€, I tried to analyze my options of working a corporate position or starting a business that would allow me to be my own boss. But nothing seemed to fit. Having worked in retail banking during college, Iā€™d always had an interest in finance and been fascinated by Wall Street.

On December 4, 2019 my life changed for two reasons I will never forget. My father passed away in the late evening after battling Alzheimerā€™s, but still his death was quite sudden. It was also the day I had found, downloaded, and began reading your book earlier that morning. The Lord truly does work in mysterious ways. As the weeks went on, I found it was a blessing my father died before Covid and lockdowns took hold. He certainly would have been alone in care and unable for us to visit or help him in person due to all the restrictions implemented. And I was equally blessed to find How To Day Trade For A Living, which set me on a path of learning that has certainly changed my life plans for the better.

I devoured the book and dove into research the viability of trading as a serious career. Just two weeks later I was a lifetime member of Bear Bull Traders. Certainly with all going on in my life, I was overwhelmed, but I knew I was on to something with trading. By mid-January I had built a trading station, opened a brokerage account, downloaded DAS and SLOWLY begun the journey to my goal of trading full time.

Throughout the exciting financial market of 2020, I dipped my toe in the waters – repositioning investments, starting to swing trade (thanks Brian Pezim), and going from SIM to live (which I still do today). At the end of 2020, I was ā€œreturnedā€ back to work. But after the way the shooting was handled and I was treated by my department, it will never be the same. Iā€™m very thankful for my career, my paycheck, my pension, the people I work with, and the people I help in the community. But the politics of policing and the administration within the department have left me disheartened to say the least. But thanks to your book and BBT, I now have an exit plan to retire early and trade. Something I love, and something God willing, that allows me the freedom to work for myself and provide for my family and support others.

I want to sincerely thank you for what you have built. I am still figuring this trading thing out, but because of what you have given to help others from your hard work and success

I am definitely not where I want to be trading. Quite honestly, I’m really still trying to discover where/how I can define my edge and trade best for me. But luckily all of the moderators are so different and helpful teaching that I know I will eventually get my system if I stick with it. My goal is to be “consistently profitable” by 2023 so I can retire and trade full time.

I look forward to meeting you in person, hopefully at a meetup in 2022. All the best to you in all your endeavors, and thank you for sharing your journey and helping others to succeed.

**PS I purchased the hardcopy of the book so will look to have you sign it when we meet!
